michael phelps doing his victory roar for his second gold medal
i really admire team USA for their indomitable spirit.
the team consists of Michael Phelps, Garrett Weber-Gale, Cullen Jones, and Jason Lezak.
they made a really commendable effort to clinch their gold medal for
Men's 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay
not only did they beat their tough competitor, the French team
they actually smashed the world record with a timing of 3:08.24.
anyone who watched this particular relay would have assure you that
the French counterpart
is winning after 350m of the race.
but Jason Lezak, the last USA swimmer left everyone lost for words
he put up a tough fight by giving his last burst to catch up with Alain Bernard
by doing that, he reminded us of the unpredictability of sports game
(which makes things way more interesting)
by doing that, he sustained Phelps' goal of getting 8 golds in the Olympic Games
(which was almost snagged by Cullen Jones)
disappointments, dreams dashed for singaporeans
1. tao li got fifth for women's 100m Butterfly Final
but the consolation is that she broke the asian record
(the angmos are just too tall, giving them the bias advantage)
2. lee chong wei trashed our local favourite ronald susilo
with straight sets 21-13, 21-14
however there is one interesting and encouraging trend
that i've spotted.
the asian athletes are starting to make their presence felt
in the western-dominated sports
swimming
up and rising stars like
our home-grown fav tao li
(not really home-grown, but well you get the point)
republic of korea's
Park Tae-hwan
and japan's sports star
Kitajima Kosukeand lastly,
go singapore table-tennis team!
you're our last source of hope.
and yes, may the olympic spirit soar high :)
